BUSINESS SOLAR CAR PORTS

SMART CONTROLS

We only install smart control systems.

View your system online, integrate the whole home or create an off grid system.

SOLAR PV

1kW - 50kW.

We have installed and managed over 27MW of

solar projects.

ENERGY STORAGE

Energy Storage Systems can be installed at the point of installation of solar or can be retrofitted at any point afterwards.

SOLAR PV

To give you an idea of what your property could have installed, based on its size.

However every property is unique so this is just a guide.

You may also need as many panels as your roof can comfortable fit, if you are heavy energy users.

On average a panel is 2m x 1m and you need to leave 0.5 - 1m around the edges.

South facing roofs are perfect but systems work very well on an East and West facing roof.

All our systems are designed based on your current consumption, roof orientation, obstacles and shading.

There are two elements to your solar pv installation with an optional third element.

  • The inverter

  • The panels

  • The battery storage (optional)

Solar PV can generally be installed under 'permitted development'. Planning permission is only required is certain situations.

THE PROCESS

Survey

We can provide an initial quote without attending site.

We use information collected from you along with the support of Google Earth. However this will be followed up with a full technical on-site survey once a deposit has been paid.

Solar PV

If you have a south, east and/or west facing roof, solar is the ideal technology to reduce your energy bills, your resilience on the grid and your homes carbon footprint.

Typically any energy produced, that is not used or stored can be exported back to the grid at an export rate of around £0.15.

Return on investment is generally between 5 and 7 years but this will depend on the unique design of your system and your consumption profile.

Solar is a medium to long term investment so installing it on your long term home or forever home early on will see the best results long term.

Residential Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems turn sunlight into electricity for your home. Modern setups go beyond just panels; they act as a central "energy hub" that integrates with batteries, hot water systems, and Electric Vehicles (EVs) to maximize your self-sufficiency.

1. Benefits & Savings

  • Financial Savings: Typical UK households with a standard 3–4kW system can save between £300 and £600 annually on electricity bills. Some owners report savings over £1,000 when combining solar with batteries and heat pumps.

  • Export Income: Through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), you can sell unused electricity back to the grid.

  • Property Value: Research suggests solar panels can increase a home's value by approximately 14%.

  • Environmental Impact: A typical 4kWp system saves about one tonne of  per year, roughly equivalent to driving 3,600 miles.

2. Design & System Types

Effective design depends on roof orientation (South-facing is ideal at a – pitch) and shading.

  • Grid-Tie: The most common and affordable type. It uses the grid as a "backup" but shuts down during power outages for safety.

  • Hybrid: Connects to the grid and a battery. It stores excess energy for use at night and can provide power during blackouts.

  • Off-Grid: Operates entirely independently. It requires large battery banks and is typically only used for remote locations.

3. Panel Types

4. Integration with Other Devices

  • Solar Batteries: Instead of exporting surplus energy for a low rate, you store it to use during the evening.

  • Hot Water (Solar Diverters): Devices like the eddi or iBoost automatically direct excess solar power to your immersion heater, effectively using your water tank as a "thermal battery".

  • Electric Vehicles (EVs): Smart chargers can be set to "Solar Only" mode, ensuring your car charges exclusively from free, green energy generated on your roof.

  • Heat Pumps: Solar panels can offset the electricity used by air source heat pumps, particularly during the shoulder months, further reducing heating costs.

Current Incentives:

In the UK, solar panel and battery installations currently benefit from 0% VAT until March 2027.
